Hello, I am having an issue… The shipping name being pulled from Paypal changes to the billing name once it enters the backend of wordpress. The shipping address comes in correctly, but the name does not…it reverts to the billing name. I have looked at all the settings, and everything looks ok. What can be causing this issue?

Do you have it setup so that that users go through your WooCommerce checkout page or are you skipping the WC checkout page and allowing checkout from the product / cart pages?

I have it so the customer skips the checkout page… they can checkout from the product / cart page.

So I assume this must only be happening with users who are logged in to your site..?? Just trying to figure out exactly what the flow is so I can try to reproduce it.

No, it happens even if I am not logged in to the website. I just tested…

Do you need credentials to view the site? I can send it to you privately.

If you’re not logged into the site, and you’re skipping the WooCommerce checkout page, then the only address data that would be available is what PayPal sends. All they send is a shipping address, so I don’t see what it would reverting to..?? What “billing name” do you have if they aren’t logged in to an account?

Exactly. Let me give you a play-by-play scenario.
Michael is purchasing something on the site but wants it shipped across the country to Mary. In Paypal, once he fills out the billing information with his information, he then fills out Mary’s name and address to where it needs to be shipped to. After he submits the form in Paypal, he then comes back to my site for the final confirmation or cancelation of order. On this page it shows the correct name and address to where it needs to be shipped to (Mary’s name and address). Up to this point – no problems. Once he hits confirm, woocommerce generates the order page, and starting from this point forward the Shipping information shows Michael’s name BUT Mary’s address. This doesn’t work since Michael does not live at Mary’s address. This then gets carried over to the backend, and generating mailing labels becomes a big issue since the Billing name is incorrect.

I hope my explanation clarifies more on what is happening, and thank you for the support.

Ok, thanks for the details. I’ll see if we can reproduce that issue. If so, I should be able to get it fixed on our 1.1.7.5 update that we’ll be releasing here in just a few days.

Thank you. Please keep me updated, as this becomes a problem (and unprofessional) since we have to call the customer to get the correct shipping name.

    Thank you again.

On more question. It seems the buyer must be checking out through Guest Checkout..?? So they’re just filling in a credit card instead of logging into a PayPal account..??

If they’re logging into a PayPal account there really isn’t any step where you enter a “billing” address. All you do is choose a shipping address.

Please verify that for me so I can test the scenario appropriately. Thanks!

yes, paying with a credit card as a guest.

Do you have logging enabled in your plugin settings? Would be great to see the logs where this happened, too, if you can provide that.

    No, unfortunately i did not.

Hi Angelleye, i’m sorry for being such a nuisance, but do you think you can point me to where the issue may be? Or maybe you can provide me with a temporary fix until you resolve the issue in the updated release. My client is breathing down my neck, because he’s getting dozens of orders a day, and he has to call each one to get the correct shipping name. i just spent 1.5 hours on the phone with him explaining what’s going on, and he was not happy that he had to wait for the fix. Please anything you can tell me i really would appreciate it.

    Thank you for your support.

@sribeiro, I’ve got this assigned to my developer to fix on Monday. I can definitely get you the updated files from our GitHub repo immediately so you don’t have wait on the official release, but again, it’ll probably be Monday before I can get that to you.
