The attack started three days ago. My home page gets thousands of hits every few minutes, and my theme and header are ripped off and replaced with an awful theme and header. Currently, Bluehost is restoring my site back for the second time in two days. First we tried Cloud Flare in “I’m Under Attack” mode, but there were a lot of conflicts with my site, including broken photos and a huge drop in traffic, so we deactivated Cloud Flare and they put Site Lock on my site.

Well, Site Lock didn’t protect me at all, as it happened again today. Also, I keep my plug-ins updated and change my password every day.

My site has just been restored and I’m currently back on Cloud Flare in “I’m under attack” mode, but that will cause conflicts and a decrease in traffic, as I mentioned above.

Does anyone know what kind of hack this is and what I can do to protect myself 100% against it? Is there something other than Cloud Flare that can protect me from these non-stop attacks?

Remain calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

Hi, James. Thank you so much for responding. I set Cloud Flare to High instead of Under Attack, and it seems to be working with no conflicts on my site, thus far. However, I’m thinking they keep getting in through my theme (which is probably why it changes to another theme during the hit attacks – 1.7 million on Thursday!), which is very old and hasn’t been updated in about 5 years.

I just need to find a free WP theme with a layout like mine so everything stays as is when activated, but my ‘preview themes’ doesn’t work, so I’m in limbo.

With all that said, I’m looking forward to digging into the links you posted (Thank you SO much) and doing everything I can to get rid of the hacking creeps.
