Footer widget breaks after activating Adminimize 1.8.5

I’m referring to an old post (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/footer-widget-disabled-not-visible)
I seem to have the same problem. After deactivating the Adminimize plugin all works well. Activating it again causes the footer widget to disappear and only leave a grey top border.
Does anyone know what’s going on here?
