• Would like to redesign my company wordpress website, but I don’t have admin rights and the theme looks to be custom. Would like to try to design one on my own, then present as an alternative, but for branding purposes want to keeo the look, style and theme the same (mostly). Currently admin unlikely to help, but might. Where should I start? Don’t want to build the whole thing and then find out it can’t be used as a replacement because should have been built in a dev environment, etc.

    Thanks!!!

  • Have you considered installing WordPress locally?

I guess I can but I am worried about or don’t know the process of building a website, then how to replace the old website with the new one. Would this be bad for SEO? the degree of difficulty in doing this, etc.? Thanks!

    Hi Mrdomodomo,
It seems you don’t have wp-admin details for your wordpress site.
Do you have hosting login details? You can easily get into your website via that.

If you want to redesign it, I suggest go with the psd to wordpress approach. And like esmi said, consider local environment for installing wordpress and developing your replacement theme.

    Good Luck.

Thank you for the replies!!! If you substantially change a website how do you avoid losing the Google search rankings? Any place where I can read up on this?
