WordPress website exceeding CPU usage?

    Hi,

    I got a message this morning from my hosting provider (hostgator) my website has exceeded CPU usage. They’re telling me it’s coming from my index.php page. I’m not sure what to do about this.

    I should also mention my WP website recently got hacked. I believe I corrected the issue but now I’m getting this message from my host. How should I go about fixing this problem? What should I do next?

    If that’s the case, it probably has to do with some heavy traffic to your site, whether legitimate or not.

    As someone who works for a web host, I would recommend making sure your files are “clean” as in the core files resembling that of a new installation, and making sure you have some sort of caching plugin setup. You never know how much that helps till you sit there and look at the load on a server while sending tons of requests to the page.

    How would I even look at the load on the server? Where can i get that info?
