    Hi there,

A site that I use is missing it’s plugins. I have no idea what is causing this. An update has removed all the plugins from the site even though they are still on the server in the plugins folder.

    The site is… https://yourfriendshouse.com/

    Has anybody else encountered this?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Was it WP that updated and did it complete the update? You may want to reinstall the update.

    Hi questas_admin,

It says that everything is up to date. I tried installing wordpress again with no luck.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Do you have the plugins area on your dashboard? If so is it just not showing your plugins? Can you install plugins there. One other thing to check. FTP to your site, look in your WP-Content folder and see if the plugins folder is named correctly. Should say “plugins”.

Hi again, just went to the plugins section and it is now just saying “Error establishing a database connection”

Previously, i have been able to the the plugins section but it has said that it was empty. I have tried reinstalling the plugins but it says that they are already there.

I looked on the FTP and they are in the plugins folder.

The plugins page said to repair the database. i added “define(‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’, true);” to the wp-config.php file and it said.

Some database problems could not be repaired. Please copy-and-paste the following list of errors to the WordPress support forums to get additional assistance.

    wp_users: Table ‘yourfrie_2015.wp_users’ doesn’t exist

It just looks like your database server is down, or database path is wrong?

You can confirm that if you refresh (press F5) on homepage or dashboard – and all is still working without errors.

The site seems to be working again! not sure what happened. wp-admin is showing…

    Database Update Required

WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version.

The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.

Ok did the database update and both the dashboard were working fine. I clicked on the plugins sections and it said…

The plugin add-from-server/add-from-server.php has been deactivated due to an error: The plugin does not have a valid header.

    … for each plugin.

And everything is broken again. ??

    Hi again Philip,

In that case, try to follow these steps:

    – disable all plugins
    – log out from WordPress Dashboard
    – go back to yoursite.com/admin
    – login back
    – check if homepage is working fine
    – if ok, re-enable all plugins

    Hope it helps,

    Hi Digico,

Unfortunately, I can’t see the plugins to disable them. Is there another way to disable them?

Do you have a backup of your site and DB?

    Thread Starter Phillip

    (@phillustration)

Yeah, do you think a reinstall is required?

    Digico Paris

    (@digico-paris)

Ok, if you can’t access dashboard anymore (because database is wrecked),

And you tried the steps I suggested, with no luck,

Yes, like Questas says a reinstall could be the best option,

    Good luck,

PS: I can see another possible issue, is that your host is trying to do automatic background updates while you’re still logged in. But I highly doubt it’s the origin of issue.

Do you have the backup saved on your server?

I can access the dashboard still and my copy is on my computer.

I was wondering, would deleting plugins in the folder on the server and re-installing them help?
