• Hi I need someone to help me. I have wordpress automatically installed into my website, so I didn’t have to download it or anything. However, I need to add a plug in, and I don’t know how to install files to my webserver, or add folders in a wordpress directory, nor do I know if that is what I should be doing. Please help!

  • You will need to either use a FTP program from your computer, or use a web based administration page on your server to move files to the following directory: wp-content/plugins/

This directory will be off of wherever your WordPress site was installed to on your server. What you need to do with the plugin files is move the folder that contains the plugin files (make sure that the files are directly in the folder and are not in a sub-folder of the folder you are moving to the server) to the above listed folder, then go into your WordPress site admin page for plugins and click the activate button listed for that plugin.

If you need a basic tutorial on FTP programs check out this one at my site: https://www.awsom.org/tutorials/3-moving-files-to-your-web-server/ which talks about 2 free ones for Mac and PC.
