While trying to figure out how best to import a member list from another member list, we were testing the import plugin to see how it works. In the process, we added a few users (Editors), as well as the only Admin. Satisfied with how it worked after looking at the SM Members list, we deleted the members via the SM screen. Unfortunately, it also deleted the accounts from the main WP Users area, including the Admin and now we no longer have admin access. We’ve tried every trick we could find to recreate a user (in PHPMyAdmin) with no luck. When we attempt to log in, we get either an error that the username/password is incorrect, or when we try using the backend-created login, it simply redirects us to the home page of the website. I wouldn’t have thought deleting a user in the plugin’s Member list would also delete them from the database completely, especially the Admin. Can you provide any insights/suggestions?

Hi just one question the user that you deleted, was this user a WordPress admin user as well?

    In regards to your comment….

or when we try using the backend-created login

Which backend login are you referring to?

Yes, the user that was deleted was the only WordPress admin user. I even checked the WordPress Users table via PHPMyAdmin and the Admin account was deleted. Regarding the “backend-created” login – I found a site that gave instructions for how to create a new Admin account using PHPMyAdmin and followed the instructions. WordPress seems to recognize the login, but redirects me to the home page of the website and does not let me in to the WordPress administration panel.
    Thanks.

In your case your best bet is to disable this plugin via FTP or cPanel. Then follow the instructions you found to add another admin user to log back into your website. Alternative if you have a backup, I would restore the site using the backup.

Once all the above is achieved, remember not to delete a user with admin rights especially if it is the only admin user you have.

    Kind regards
