Buddypress: URL preview converts to text only any additional link

    When sharing a link in the Buddypress activity, all text written by the user that contains a link is converted to text, for instance,

    bbc link – works correctly, showing the preview
    however
    @petersmith – converted to text, not a link as offered by Buddypress
    #awesome and #politics – converted to text, no links. I have implemented hashtags and they work correctly everytime but when sharing a url and getting the preview.

    It seems that somehow previewing a URl converts everything input by the user to text only, so we can’t share links and use mentions and hashtags (like in twitter)

    What should I look at to fix this?
