    Hello Voltronik,

i am reoppening a post you closed due to my inactivity. Sorry I could not come back earlier, all is a bit hectic in Paris right now…

I have a problem with New Comments notifications : they don’t come through although my other notifications do

I have unchecked the settings notification system, and I am only using the [comment_author]shortcode for the time being.
The test email comes through, but I receive nothing at all when commenting on a page.
Any idea what I could miss ??

    Thanks for your help.

And then you answered this :

    Hi Oazar,
    Thanks for your message.

Have you installed the Email Log plugin and checked to see if the comment notification is logged in there?

If it is, then it might be an issue with sending email out via your server or Akismet is stopping it from doing it’s thing.

Can you check this and get back to me?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    My answer :

No I did not try the email log plugin as ALL notifications (but this one) come through, the email test come through, the native wordpress comments notifications come through if I check the settings, so I don’t think this a mail or server or spam problem…

Moreover I have another plugin for mail and everything runs smoothly (contact forms, other notifications…)….

    Hi Oazar,
I had not realised you were in Paris – I sincerely hope all is well with you.

Thanks for re-opening the thread. Can you verify that you’ve followed the instructions for enabling comments in the FAQ and what you see when you do install the Email Log plugin?
If emails are showing but not being received, it’s possible that comment notifications are getting marked as SPAM by your server / host so it’s worth checking this out. It’s also worth checking the settings in Akismet if you have it installed.

Let me know how yo get on.

    Wishing you all the best,
    Jack

    Hi Oazar,
    Hope all’s well.

Wondered if you had had any luck with your issue yet?
    Let me know.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Hey, I encountered the same problem with new comments notifications, the test email arrives, but when I add a new comment nothing happens. I also installed the Email Log plugin and there is no log there for the user I chose to receive it, just for the post author and for the website admin.

    Hi Mircea Tihu,
Thanks for adding to this thread.

Are the post author and the admin in the same list of users that the notification is meant to go to? Are you saying that it is received by some users but not all?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hello

I just wanted to say that I have the same problem with new comment on https://www.byothe.fr… I don’t receive notifications anymore… it seems to last since 2 weeks

    Regards,

The post author and the admin are not added through the plugin, they receive the emails based on the wordpress basic functionality. I tried to configure the plugin to send the mail to a specific user and a specific role but none worked.

    Hi byothe & Mircea Tihu,

Thanks for your feedback. I’m investigating and am hoping to find the cause of the problem soon. I may get back to you and ask for more information.

Can you both confirm that you’ve followed the steps in my help doc and are sure that it’s not a theme or plugin conflict?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Voltronik

No I didn’t follow the steps of your help doc… didn’t have the time yet… but I’ll let you know ASAP.

    Thanks for your time !

    Hi byothe,
Thanks. If you can, that would really help me in narrowing down the cause of the problem for you.

I’ll leave this ticket open until you get back to me.

    Thanks,

    Hello Voltronik,

I am back, sorry really for having you waiting… !

And I am still with the same problem : no notification is being sent through your system when a new comment is posted.
I installed a plugin that checks mails sent from the website (not certain t is the plugin you were thinking about as seveal plugins are called email log, or close…).
Anyway, from what I see, the notification is just not sent at all to its recipient.
I disabled all my plugins except plugins related to mail sending, same result.
I can send test emails and they do go through.
For other notifications I created (post update, new page, page updated) all goes well..

May you help ? Tell me if you nedd to login, and if yes, whether I should leave the plugins desactivated for your test, or not.
thanks Voltronik. I am following this thread this time…

    Hi Cécile,
    Thanks for your reply.

Are you using any SPAM management plugins?
Are you able to test with all plugins except for Email Log and BNFW activated?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Side note:

May you help ? Tell me if you nedd to login,

I’m sorry but please don’t consider that an option. If the plugin author accepted that offer then he’d get a polite shoulder tap saying “Don’t do that again.” No one should offer that here and no one should ask either.

Which the plugin author didn’t do, I’m just trying to set your expectations for support. ??
