The installation of IP blacklist on our website has caused the dashboard to white out on logging in. I think the cause is that the list of failed logins grew so long that it’s causing the host server’s memory to max out.

I’ve tried renaming the plugin folder on the server, which has ‘broken’ the plugin and allowed me to login safely. However, re-activating the plugin, which I thought would create a clean installation, only causes the same problem to recur.

I’m guessing that it would be possible to delete the plugin, remove the folder via FTP and do a fresh install, but that will mean losing the blacklist, which would be annoying. Is there any way of retrieving the blacklisted IPs from the plugin’s folder via FTP, or by any other method, prior to doing a fresh install?

    Hi,

Uninstalling and re-installing does not remove database of blacklisted IPs so don’t worry about it and even if you so how remove tables or flush them, I can retrieve your blacklisted IPs from my server ip-finder.me which records all websites blocking IPs.

    Hi Adeel

Thanks for the guidance – but looking over my original post I should’ve been cleaer.

Unfortunately the fact that I can’t extract or even remove the database of blacklisted IPs is precisely my problem. It means that whenever I reinstall the plugin our website’s dashboard becomes inaccessible because of a memory shortage.

Any suggestions as to how I can extract the list of IPs from the server (via FTP, perhaps?) and then do a clean install of the plugin?

    Thanks

    Shaun

    Hi,

There are three tables in Database. (phpMyAdmin)
    wp_IPBLC_blacklist
    wp_IPBLC_login_failed
    wp_IPBLC_usernames

Make a backup of these three tables and flush them.
If you don’t know how to do it, I will write a mini tutorial for it.
    Waiting for response.

Thanks for the update Adeel. I’ve been travelling so I wasn’t able to reply as soon as I would have otherwise.

I’ll see if I can track down a tutorial for flushing the tables when I’m back at work next week – I imagine one’s out there. If not I’ll come back to you for advice.

Thanks for the help so far –
