unable to add embed code to Customization page

I choose theme that had video option on page. I was able to add the embed video when creating that pages information and all worked good. Then I created additional pages, all good so far. Then I wanted to edit the initial pages video I had placed on it. I had to go to Appearance and then customization menu which produced a marketed different area to edit. I changed the embed video in the section where it was to new embed code and it wouldn’t read the embed code, it would just place the code as text into the site. I then placed the original embed code that worked originally and it didn’t work either.

What could cause the embed code to originally work when creating the page and then when editing the customization page it doesn’t work.
