Dashboard is disfunctional

    My blog seems to have a number of administrative problems.

    1. Yesterday I started getting a message at the top of my Dashboard pages that says:

    WordPress database error: [Can’t find file: ‘wpi4f_comments.MYI’ (errno: 2)]
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM wpi4f_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘0’

    WordPress database error: [Can’t find file: ‘wpi4f_comments.MYI’ (errno: 2)]
    SELECT COUNT(comment_ID) FROM wpi4f_comments WHERE comment_approved = ‘spam’

    2. This morning I posted 2 blog entries, but now I can’t access anything beyond the main dashboard page–can’t write, manage, access themes, etc. For what it is worth, for about a month when I use ‘save and continue editing’ on Write Post page, it would return a blank page after it saved and I’d have to go back and manually click the draft to continue editing.

    What is going on, how do I get back my dashboard?? My website is https://www.feministpeacenetwork.org

  • When you have “numbered errors” (i.e. errno:2) you need to contact your host and tell them about it.

    Eventually, you can search the forum for that error – there might be other ideas, too.

    ok–I have and they are looking into it. Now my homepage has disappeared too…

    That’s real, real bad. It indicates that something has gone horribly wrong with your MySQL database.

    Hope you have got a backup.

    Talk to your host. At this point, only they can fix it, as something has gone wrong with the database.

    That is what they have told me as well, so I’m guessing this means that it is something that is wrong on their end, not something that I caused to happen? The reason I ask is that I’ve had one problem after another with them, and just trying to figure out if this is another issue on their part or if I somehow triggered this?

    It’s unlikely you did anything to break this. They had some kind of server or drive failure or something.

    And life is too short to deal with problematic host services. Get a backup of your database and website, then switch hosts.
