something is not working here… I tried this new version and twice my posts were published twice a day though they had different dates.

For instance, the post from Dec 16th 2014 at 00:00 was published exactly a year later that day (Dec 16th 2015 at 00:00) but 36 minutes later the next one from Dec 17th 2014 at 00:36 was published. This happened before so it must be some bug.

I have enable rotation and fixed rotation checked. Interval is set to 24 hours.

I will check the plugin’s behaviour for the next few days. The next posts waiting in the queue were published exactly at 00:00 one year ago day by day that is 17the, 18th, 19th and 20th December 2014. You can check yourself if it is working at https://www.vanessa.fm. They are on the home page, the module is called “Muzyczne kalendarium”. The article’s name should correspond with the date.

Hello. I′ll explain a bit how this new feature works:

First time the ‘fixed rotation’ is checked, the plugin still takes the ‘latest post time’ as reference (the same as old versions do),but on next rotation it saves a ‘latest rotation time’ data into the database. Then, for the next times, the plugin will take the ‘latest rotation time’ instead of the ‘latest post time’ as reference, and this will avoid delay in the rotation (this is the goal of this new feature) if you manually add new posts.

Please, check the plugin’s behaviour for the next few days and let me know how this evolves.

To switch the new feature on, I waited till midnight. I manually set the latest post to appear on the site, then checked the fixed rotation. I believed this meant that the next articles would be published in the fixed 24-hour rotation (since there is only one article in this category a day) no matter how many articles from other categories would published in the meantime. But the next day I saw that the plugin published two next articles one by one though they differed in dates.

To wait till midnight won′t help, because the plugin will takes as reference:
-with ‘fixed rotation’ OFF: most recent post time.
-with ‘fixed rottion’ ON: latest rotation time (once ‘latest rotation time’ is saved into the database), so it won′t matter how many new articles would be published; the rotation won′t be delayed (the goal of the new option).

But it never takes the original post time you want to be rotated into consideration. It only mind if that post is the oldest one that matches into a selected category.

Remember: the administration panel anticipates the next change, so you can view if things are going as expected or not.

How does it find which is the oldest – not by the time it was posted? Anyways, it’s 13:22 now. The plugin says:

In 0 days, 11 hours, 14 ‘ and 19 ” this post will be ready for being altered:
(post ID: 18316) – Muzyczne kalendarium – 17 grudnia

So tomorrow at 00:36 next post should be published. I will check if the posts aren’t doubled.

I mean: yes, the plugin finds the oldest post looking into the database and sorting posts by ‘post_date’, but it does not matter if the oldest plugin was posted at midnight or at midday, 3 days ago or 3 years ago ??
The really important thing is that it must be the oldest.

It worked ok for two days. The plugin correctly published two latest articles but on the third day it published three latest articles one by one so on Dec 20th I ended up with the article for Dec 22nd.

It may have something to do with the fact that yesterday I wrote a missing article for August 31st and published it back to Aug 31st 2014. Since I am not going to write anything more in this category, this may be the only error I got. But if I am ever going to correct anything in these artucles, there can be some issues with a proper presentation.

– it showed correctly the next post to be displayed. however I would not know know that some thirty minutes later it would rotate the next two posts.

– yes, now it’s 12:49 and the plugin shows “In 0 days, 11 hours, 48 ‘ and 37 ” this post will be ready for being altered:
(post ID: 18619) – Muzyczne kalendarium – 22 grudnia” (which is right)

– yes but as I once wrote the change takes place late at night after midnight so I cannot tell the way of the completion.

In my opinion the order of rotation was disrupted by adding an article which was dated back to 31 August 2015, though the next oldest post was the one from 20th December. Since I am not going to write anything more in this category, I guess it now should work properly.

The plugin needs a visit to your site (it doesn’t mind if this is a hit to your site’s frontend or a visit from an admin user into WordPress settings).

Thirty seconds of delay’ question:
‘this post will be ready for being altered’ means once your WordPress site runs; this means ‘Post Rotation’ will run, compare dates and take the right action if needed, but a hit is always required.

You can modify or add any new post, as you need.
Of course, remember that if you create or modify a post (its post_date, I mean) and that post becomes the oldest one, it will be the rotated one, but it will be announced on the administration panel of the plugin anyway.

I hope the new ‘fixed rotation’ feature represents an improvement over previous versions of the plugin for your needs ??

“Fixed rotation option” is okay, this is actually what I needed – just one post every day. As for hits to our site, there’s always someone who checks the site, besides we use a twitterfeed site that checks our feed and send the posts to Twitter and Facebook.
