• I’m new to wordpress but I’m a seasoned web developer. I run several high traffic websites. I’ve inherited a ‘finished’ WordPress website that I am now supposed to support. I created a child theme for enigma. (when I found out the site didn’t work on ipads I update Enigma, which was badly out of date, and the prior ‘developer’ had made changes to the site).

My child theme shows up and I’m able to ‘activate’ it, but any changes, such as adding a ‘body’ tag with a different background color don’t take. When I remove the include tag in the child style.css file all together, it still seems to load the enigma theme. I tried forcing a refresh. I click on the child theme in the view source, and it looks like the right css (my child css with the enigma include). There about a million miles of styles inline in the code after the child theme I added, though looking at the tags I’ve tried to change (body, h1) using the inspector in Chrome shows no history of the changes I made being overlaid by a later style. Any ideas? Thanks.
