    Hi!

    I have a problem.

I have one WordPress site already at a .com and I would like to synchronize that blog onto another server which will be using a .org.

The reason why I want to do this is because my sites continue to get shutdown due to content.

I would like both .com and .org to be identical on different servers.

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

  • I know how to do it if two domains are parked at the same web hosting company. If they are hosted at separate servers, I think you can still do it by simply sharing the same database. We accidentally did it before. However, that could cause some problems. I would suggest that you park two domains under the same web hosting company.

I think we had a login problem when the same blog was accidentally hosted at two separate servers.

How do you share a database across two hosts?

I think I used WP Database Backup.

I don’t think you get what I want done. For example, If I make a post on the .com it will end up showing up on the .org as well etc etc.

Might mean back it up and upload to the .org site. Not instantaneous but works if you get shut down. Why are you getting shut down? Link plz…

I really doubt that what you want is possible. You want two copies of the Database on two separate servers (in case one gets shut down) but want to be able to post on one and have it enter into both databases and show on both domains (the .com and .org). I don’t think WP has a way to mainatain/sync two copies of the same DB across to different servers.

You could have both domains displaying the same database but if the one running the DB server shuts you down you still have a problem. If you were to maintain regular backups of the DB you would at least be able to get back up and running within a few minutes.

Site is dead atm. The site is a free speech site.

Cheers for your help obscure, rforster and macsoft3.

I’ll probably just keep uploading a database to a separate server.

You can create cron jobs to run on a daily basis to backup your db from one server and then import it on the other server. Not exactly mirroring, but pretty close.
