• Hello everyone,

I am experiencing a very strange issue with wordpress. I recently upgraded to version 2.3.2 and uploaded a new theme.

Sometimes, upon making changes to my blog, updating a post, etc., or if I am away from my blog for a period of time, it will automatically revert back to the default theme.

I tried changing themes and reinstalling wordpress a few times, but it did not help.

    Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    – Ralph

  • 99.99% chance there is a problem with the theme. WordPress reverts to the default theme automatically when it encounters a problem with a theme (such as a user accessing a page which makes use of whichever theme file is faulty).

Check your server logs for a clue as to what was being done when the error occurred. Also check the home page for the particular theme for updates.

Also, some hosts have this problem more than others. There seems to be no real rhyme or reason for it. WordPress reverts to default whenever the theme becomes inaccessible, but why it would become inaccessible is unknown.

Workaround: move your theme into the default theme folder (rename the old folder). Then when it reverts, it’s reverting to the same theme that it already is using.
