• From plugin docs: “Registered Subscribers are users who have registered with your blog. They will have an additional option area under Users -> Subscription. This area allows them to choose which categories they would like to receive notifications about and also allows them to choose the email format.”

    There is nothing under Users -> Subscription that allows a registered user to subscribe to a specific category. There is more than one category on my blog and need to allow registered users to choose to which category they wish to subscribe.

  • @tayler,

    Is Users->Subscription present at all or are the options just missing? If you can see a section for your categories but your category names are missing it will be because you have the wrong version of the plugin for you version of WordPress – which versions of each have you got?

    I have the problem, you just described. I can see the categories section (manage), but don’t have names for categories. And i cannot unselect the excluded categories (options), which have no name either. They’re selected by default, which means, no user will get e-mail notification to any of my categories. So which version of subscribe2 do i have to work with, when i’m using wp version 2.1.3? Or what do i have to do?

    I have the same thing….under Users -> Subscriptions there is no option for subscribing to specific categories. The only choice is “Receive daily summary of new posts…Yes/No”.

    I’m using Subscribe2 version 4.4 within WordPress 2.3.2

    Help?

    @troglodyth

    This is answered in your other thread.

    @tim35,

    This is expected behaviour when you are using digest email notifications. Subscribe2 would kill your server if you consider the users could sign up to different categories and posts can be assigned to several categories.

    All posts are included in digest mails for all users with the exception of Excluded categories.

    @mattyrob, I am using Subscribe2 4.4 and WP 2.3.2

    I see you’ve answered my question in your response to Tim35. Any chance this could be made into an option? I have a dedicated server that I think could handle the heavy load.

    I’m also going to look into customizing the plugin to add monthly digests. If you have any tips to make this easier, let me know.

    P.S. I don’t think the RSS feeds in this support forum work that well or I would have responded earlier. Notifications of new comments didn’t pop up until today. I use Google Reader.

    Taylar,

    I guess it could be made into a bespoke plugin, I’m not keen on making it an option because it’d be too easy for a cheap hosted sign to turn on and kill the hosting!

    To add monthly digests you just need to add a monthly period to the cron schedule and it’ll be automatically picked up. Look for the add_weekly_sched() function in the code.
