    Hi there

I have just upgraded to WordPress 4.4 today, and have a warning message across the front page (and others) of my site.

Warning: substr() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /home/someone/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 1674

Can you please advise what this means, and how I go about removing it?

    Thank you!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

It was a plugin causing the problem. Now it’s deactivated, the warning message has disappeared. Thanks for your help!

    Which plugin was it?
