• I have a multi-site installation with 7 sites. We are planning to re-launch one of the 7 with an entirely new site.

This is how I envision going about the process. Does this seem correct?

    1. Create a new Site within Network Admin
    2. Build the site
    3. Go to Domain Mapping: Domains, Edit the domain, and change the Site ID value to the new ID.

That seems very simple, which makes me think I may be missing something. Any guidance or reassurance is appreciated!

  • That is about it as long as you are careful and not use absolute urls. It is very simple. We develop sites using a temporary site name, e.g. temp.domain.com. That can be set as the site name or as a domain mapping. When we go live we either add/change the domain mapping.

You should play around a bit with the Domain Mapping configurations to understand how it affects your site.
