WP 4.4 Update – Files Missing

  • An automatic update of WP on 12/8 to the latest version 4.4 has caused a number of files to disappear in the themes/twentyfifteen directory. The remaining files in the theme folder now have the exact same date and time stamp (exact time of the 4.4 WP update).

    I have backups but I’m missing some recent work (since last backup) because of this WP 4.4 update. ??

    Does anyone have any idea why a WP Update would cause the Twenty Fifteen Theme directory to be modified and any files other than default files to be deleted?

  • I do’nt know why it’s deleting any other files. But did you change some theme files and/or added some files in the directory of the Twenty Fifteen theme? That’s not the proper way to do this. You better make a child theme so your changes are safe if the theme is updated.
