I installed your plugin this morning on a beta test site. It appeared to work perfectly.
Then I installed a plugin to change the default admin email address so notifications would not appear to come from some cryptic address for my post editors.
Then it stopped working. I can always send the test notification to myself but the normal notifications to my editor users do not happen.
I have followed all your steps up to and including installing the email log plugin.
The log will always show the send test notification email but nothing else.
Next, I will remove your plugin and reinstall it.
By the way, for the while it did work, it was GREAT!

    Hi psumberg,
    Thanks for your message.

The functionality you’re looking for where you can change the default address that the notifications are being sent from is already present in the plugin. When you’re editing the notification, just click the checkbox to show the ‘From Name & Email, CC & BCC’ and then you can change the details as required.

It’s quite possible that after changing this setting, the emails are being blocked by your server as they’re triggering a SPAM rule. I recommend installing an SMTP plugin as per the steps in my help doc and see if this fixes the issue.

Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.

    Thanks,
    Jack

I meant new PENDING post , not new post. Sorry.
I just removed and reinstalled the plugin. It did not change anything. I noticed that the “old” two notifications (pending and updated)were still there. Apparently the database was not removed upon deletion of the plugin. At one point today I updated WP and some plugins. I think it was before I installed BNFW though.

Thanks Jack. I will install an SMTP plugin and test. Probably tomorrow as I’ve been at this too long at the moment :0
Thanks for your very prompt response.

    Hi Paul,
    Not a problem.

That’s correct – the notifications are stored in the wp_post and wp_postmeta databases just like all other types of custom post type. I’ll implement a proper uninstall process at some point! It’s on my roadmap.

Let me know how you get on and i’ll do my best to continue helping.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Jack, I took a look at the SMTP plugin you reference. YIKES! that will take a day of research. I installed Easy WP SMTP. Nothing has changed. Test notifications I send work properly. Automatic notifications do not work. The email log does not indicate any email other than the test notifications.
    Thanks.

    Hi psumberg,
Ok, thanks for letting me know.

The SMTP plugin I recommend is incredibly useful in that it logs the emails beyond what Email Log can do so it may well provide an answer – it’s got a wizard so should be fairly straight-forward to setup.

Have you tried all of the steps listed in my help doc, and followed them step-by-step? Are you running multisite?

    Thanks,
    Jack
