ascending and descending not working

NextCellent Gallery – NextGEN Legacy – Version 1.9.27
I have this plugin on website and for some reason the ascending and descending options do not work on the slide show. I have a lot of photographs on this plugin, and constantly adding new photos that I want to appear first. Any help would be appreciated.
