• My site wwww.filterjoe.com has had both google analytics and WP site stats for years. They have always been close, though not identical.

On December 9 I upgraded to WordPress 4.4. Within an hour I switched to the twentysixteen theme (had been running my own customization of the 7-year-old Thematic theme with no issues). I spent the next couple days customizing, setting up a child theme, etc. I’ve pretty much had no significant issues.

My traffic has been seemingly unaffected according to Google Analytics. Pageviews is similar between WP site stats and Google Analytics.

However, site stats has seen the number of visitors drop from around 600-650 per day to around 400-450/day. Google Analytics did not see the drop. The drop started on the day I switched and has held steady starting the following day (makes sense as first day was a partial day with new theme).

What should I be looking for to correct the visitor count on WP site stats? What are the kinds of issues that would cause this?

The big change that precipitated this was switching to new theme, but I did all sorts of stuff associated with that such as moving around widgets, customizing CSS, etc. All just theme related stuff. I did not change anything about my plugins.

    Any ideas?
