• Hi,

    How can I use many language with one WP installation?

    I am building a webpage that will be in Icelandic, English, Japanese, Thai, Lithuanian, Russian and Spanish.

    I am using the default UTF-8 but that gives me a problem. I cannot post anything in Japanese. Japanese characters are changed to “?????? ?? ? ? ?”

    I tried to remove :
    define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);
    define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);

    from wp-config.php like was suggested in this forum. When I did that all the Icelandic characters were scrambled in WP but the Japanese were fine.

    Is there really no way to blog in many different language with WordPress? This was no problem with Movable Type (my old CMS).

    Please help!

    Thanks,

  • Those lines should have been removed before you started blogging in any language…

    Is this a new website without content? Try to remove the old test posts and re-start it without those lines in wp-config.

    Thanks moshu. I followed your advise. I deleted every post and page, then I deleted

    define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);
    define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);

    Now can write post in all of the above language!
