front page slider

on the live demo of sugar and spice it has a nice slider with no ugly grey border and little white dots for sliding to next image. how do i get that on my theme? i have read every post in this forum and my eyes are crossed. I want my slider to look like this one:

how?? i have tried the wordpress add gallery with no luck.
