Questions about creating Shortcake plugin

1. What is the best way to do a custom query for select fields? At the moment I do it inside the ‘register_shortcode_ui’ action hook, however when I have a look at ‘query monitor’, it shows that it is doing my custom query on post load. (and post save).
Is it possible to do my custom PHP query (for filling select options array) only on Shortcake element load?2. What is the best way to add select2() to my fields? Couldn’t find a hook in the documentation.
