Cart can't be emptied

My site (https://phototrope.ca) is bilingual with qTranslate (whose developer abandoned its users eons ago). I’m not sure if it’s related, but in my site’s English version the user can’t empty his cart. After deleting an item, the page saying the cart is empty does appear, but returning to the cart shows that it isn’t so. Even emptying the browser’s cache does nothing. The supposedly deleted item remains in the cart. What’s wrong?
