Homepage text is in 'Page Sections' and not in 'Pages'

I’ll do my best to help out here.

First, I’m not clear what theme you’re using and whether it’s off-the-shelf or custom. Your theme controls the presentation of content on your site, so it is key.

It sounds like you have a Page Section area which contains duplicate info that you see on the page that is currently selected to be your static home page. Further, it sounds like you’ve determined that the content that is displayed on your home page is actually coming from the Page Section, rather than the content within your actual Front Page. Am I correct?

So, my guess is that your theme actually constructs what is displayed on the home page, not from the content that is within the editor of that page, but within other areas like Page Sections. This isn’t necessarily bad, but you obviously need to know where your content is coming from.

Should I delete the text in ‘Pages’ so that there’s no longer duplicate information, and is there any benefit (apart from convenience) to changing it?

Only if the duplicate text is actually showing, or being loaded on the page, I think. It’s entirely possible that it’s ignored altogether by the theme, so it’s a non-issue.

The way to tell authoritatively is to load the page in a browser and look at the source code to see if this text appears twice in the code. This is a bit better than just checking the home page visually, as it’s possible that the theme developer is using CSS to hide content, which could get you trouble in having duplicate content.

Thanks for your response Eric, we’re using a purchased theme called FitnessGYM from mazda/envato. It does have a lot of background settings as far as I can tell.
According to the wordpress settings, the static front page is set to use our Home page (which is a “Page”) however the overall home page (www.wilkesacademy.com.au) has a few sections, so the actual home page text is from a page section (yes, you’re correct).

I don’t think the other text does show up anywhere.
How would I check the source code?

You should be able to check the rendered source code by using your browser. Sometimes browsers give you a View Source option when you right-click on a page. Other browsers bury it in their menus.

Many Envato themes also contain visual page builders that aren’t in WordPress core and can’t be supported here.

Other community members who may have faced your issue might be able to help you but your best bet is your product’s developer.
