WordPress 3.1 on Mac OSX 10.8.5 without XAMPP or MAMP

  • Is it possible to install and use WordPress 3.1 on Mac OSX 10.8.5 without having to install additional server like XAMPP or MAMP?

    I want to learn website building with WordPress offline – perhaps the in-build in Mac server is sufficient?
