I need help with setting widgets on a theme

I have problem with this theme https://www.ads-software.com/themes/merlin/. I can’t get anything work on the home page of the theme even so i followed the instructions in the documentation. The feature image slider doesn’t appear on the home page and also i can’t make any of the widgets appear on the home page.

I hope someone can help me. I am not very advanced with wordpress.
