• I need to add to the list of those indicating they are unable to access my admin panel after upgrading to WordPress 4.4.

Similar to others that have reported this, everything worked fine until I upgraded to 4.4.

Luckily I did NOT do this on my production site. I did this on a localhost site (XAMPP) before Christmas. I can access the website itself fine, no issues there. Today I want to log in to the admin panel and got the following error:

    Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
    Error 404
    localhost
    Apache/2.4.12 (Win32) OpenSSL/1.0.1l PHP/5.6.8

I then clicked on the “referring page” link and got the following:

    Access forbidden!

You don’t have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
    Error 403
    localhost
    Apache/2.4.12 (Win32) OpenSSL/1.0.1l PHP/5.6.8

This is a site located in a sub-directory.

I also have another version of this site on the same localhost in the root WordPress directory. This site was at 4.3.x and was able to access the website itself today just fine (including the admin panel), while it was at WP 4.3.x. I then updated the site to 4.4 and logged out and logged back in. Needless to say…. I can no longer access the admin panel.

Before someone mentions plug-ins… There are other people who have reported this and we cannot all be using the same plug-ins. All plug-ins were working fine prior to the WordPress upgrade. Literally minutes before upgrading.

Let me also say I did try to de-activate the plugins as found in the FAQ “How to deactivate all plugins when not able to access the administrative menus?” This did not help.

I have minimal plug-ins on this site: wordpress-importer (activated), duplicator (activated) and akism,et (not-activated).

From reading similar posts, there doesn’t seem to be a definitive resolution.

    Any/all guidance greatly appreciated!

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I’ll give it a try. Would uprading WordPress modify the site URL and Home URL? It was literally working minutes before I upgraded to WordPress 4.4.

I’ve upgraded previous versions of WordPress on these sites without this type of issue.

Also… Not having needed to do this before… How would I re-generate my .htaccess file?

    Thanks!
