Email Getting Dropped as Spam

  • Have been having this problem with email since a long time. I have posted about this before and not received any help. I desperately need help because I am building an internship portal and my website simply cannot function without email.

    Basically I have used everything I can to send emails from my website. wp_mail function, SMTP, form plugins but none of them work at all. Have contacted GoDaddy several times and they have informed me that my email gets dropped because of spam. I really cannot understand why this is happening even though the sender and receiver email address and body is not constant.

    Although Godaddy installed a test mail function on a page and put it up on my website and emails sent through their script works well. I have no idea why this is happening but really REALLY need help with this issue.

    This isn’t a WordPress problem but here goes.

    Email Getting Dropped as Spam

    Your WordPress installation will use your default host email setup. Some mail systems will mark that as spam based on the reputation of the host or carrier. It’s not your fault and it’s not something you can directly fix.

    You can bypass the host email by using an SMTP plugin.

    If you have a GMail account (or Outlook, or Yahoo, or…) then I recommend that you install and configure this plugin.

    Once you’ve successfully set it up it just delivers mail for you.

    Thank you so much for showing interest.

    I configured the Postman SMTP plugin for a gmail account like you asked me. When I try to send a test email it says “Your message was delivered (2704 ms) to the SMTP server! Congratulations :)” and Sending the Message is shown as a success.

    However I am not still not receiving this email in my inbox. I dont know what happens to the email after it reaches the SMTP server but for some reason it is still getting dropped.

    What are you using for email? Don’t post the email address, but is it yahoo.com, outlook.com or a popular one?

    When you configure and use that plugin with GMail your system is sending via Google. Google shouldn’t come up as spam so there may be something going on with your mail host that receives the mail.
