    Hey all —

I have two separate blogs that I can’t log on to for soem reason… Both blogs I am the administrator (user name “admin”) and am trying to log onto for the first time on a new computer…

yet when I try to login, the login page simply refreshes. No log in. If I try to have my passwords reset (as if login failed) I have the exact same action happen — the form/page simply refreshes and the action doesn’t take place. No error messages, no warings, no nothing.

Heck, I’ve gone into the DB to attempt to do anything I can to reset the password and that I have no idea about — so but I’ve already been able to verify both my user names and passwords on each blog.

What’s the deal? How can I get pas this and gain access to my blogs???

srikat, while that tool is goign to prove powerful in the future if I forget my passwords — no dice trying to log in even with a new password.

I think it has to do with the isntall of WordPress. It’s been upgraded while I was logged out. I’m going to be re-installing. Hopefully that will fix things.

so someone else is having this problem too.
my blog is hosted on dreamhost, and I actually got this problem before upgrading to the latest version. i upgraded, and it persists.

I am getting the same symptoms as you are: I put in my account name and password, and the page simply refreshes back to the login screen. Same with “recover password” page.

I managed to get into the account because my other browser was still logged into my account, but I have found that things you change on the control panel do not take effect.

For example, when using the mass moderating page for comments, if you select the approve radio button and then click the Moderate button, it simply refreshes the page, without effecting the action.

I am now gonna check out that tool linked to above and see what it can do for me.

Dreamhost user here and having the exact same problem. Fix this DH!

i suspected it was dreamhost too. now i’ve been spending some time playing with .htaccess and within my database. hopefully haven’t broken anything. we’ll need to ask dreamhost, even though they might throw the “do not support one-click installations” tool at us.

Ah, so it’s a Dreamhost issue (as my sites are hosted there as well)…

I just sent Tech support an email (as well as the URL for this discussion)

11 AM here in the east, I sent that email to Dreamhost a few hours ago.

I now have access to my blog control panel. Give it a shot guys, I will post anything I hear from Dreamhost when I get it in email.

    Update: Official word from Dreamhost:

The downtime that you experienced was caused by a issue in the PHP 4 config file preventing some POST data from being sent. We have tracked the issue down and configs ran on all machines that are effected. If you still notice any sites having issues with this problem please contact support again with the specific domain details. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience the downtime has caused.
