  • Is “Fixed Positioning” unchecked?

    Thanks Chris,

    I just now fixed it.

This was so strange. I have 4 popups working with Gravity forms on my site. I have not touched one single thing since I set them up last summer. I’ve had a good number of clients use these forms to pay me. For some unknown reason either those check boxes were changed through something other than me physically checking them or they were checked all along and WordPress was ignoring it. But after a lot of hunt and pecking they seem to work. I will mark this issue resolved after I push this to live and test it.

    Thanks for your reply!

You’re welcome, Priscilla. Glad it’s working.

Daniel, there seems to be a bug here. After unchecking Fixed Positioning and saving it, the setting is still checked. But the popup will scroll.

Save the popup again, and the checked value is now saved so the popup will not scroll.

So you have to uncheck Fixed Positioning every time you edit the popup.

Its certainly been a long day. But yes what I see is that I can uncheck the Fixed Positioning box BUT if I reopen that window for any reason, the box becomes checked again. Took this old lady a long time and a huge sanity check to see it.

But I love PopUp Maker so much I’m glad we found the issue because I don’t want to stop using it.

@priscilla – glad you got it worked out, sorry for the delay.

@chris Dillon – Thanks for jumping in.

You will both be happy to know this shouldn’t be an issue in the next version, in fact fixed position likely won’t exist.

We rebuilt the popups to handle long content much better no matter what screen size, if content is short enough to fit on screen without scrolling then the typical fixed appearance would apply.

Hope that helps. We are nearly ready for beta and finishing up internal testing now before we let it out into the wild :).

Thanks for letting us know Daniel! Yes it helps.

I love PopUp Maker and think you are definitely one of the most pro-active WordPress plugin developers in our community.

I hope to meet you at a WordCamp one of these days. You should be a speaker or a sponsor. In fact I am one of the organizers for WordCamp Orange County (CA) 2016. We are just getting into the planning stages. You should consider being a speaker and come on out to the West Coast!

    Thanks again!

@priscilla – I would but I may not have the free time to dedicate as I am one of the organizers for the inaugural WordCamp Jacksonville FL in April.

I appreciate the feedback and do look forward to visiting the West Coast wordcamp a in the future.

Well— OCWC 2016 will probably not be until the Summer. Last year we did it early June. Not sure when this one will be. Our first organizers meeting for this year is tomorrow for us.

Congrats on your inaugural Jacksonville WordCamp!

Do you have a timeframe of when the updated version will be released?
I have a lot of content in my pop up and I can’t get it to scroll no matter what I change. My client is not a happy bunny right now and I’m not sure what to do!

    Thanks so much!

@thestealthyfox – The core features are done, migration routines are done and being tested. We have some smaller polish stuff to do during beta testing but it will likely be in open beta later this week or early next. Stable release likely early/middle February.

Sounds like Fixed Position is enabled. Currently there is a known bug where it won’t stay unchecked. Unchecking it and saving does save the option correctly but when the form is reshown it is rechecked and needs to be unchecked each time. This has been resolved in the version getting ready for release.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I understand there’s a bug – but even if I uncheck it and save, the pop up still doesn’t scroll? I’m worried there may be another issue.

Could you take a look at https://www.hayleycannon.com – it’s for the Bio link that I’ve used the pop up overlay.

    Thanks so much!

@thestealthyfox – Looking at it now fixed position is still enabled. What is likely happening is you uncheck it and save, then make another change and don’t uncheck it again. If you are comfortable editing php files there is a fix https://gist.github.com/danieliser/c15fedc08848137796e9

Also be sure if you have site caching you clear that as popups are cached with everything else.

    Hope that helps.

I know this is already resolved, but I was wondering where do I find the “fixed positioning” section? Mine isn’t scrolling so maybe this could fix it for mine as well.

@ciaramay – Do you mean where is the setting or what file can you edit to fix it? If you are looking the the checkbox in question its on the popup editor under Display Settings.

    Hope that helps.

Yes, I finally saw it! But now, how do I maintain the height from changing every time I add more content?

Sorry for asking too many questions. I just can’t seem to figure out why it goes off the page instead of adding a scroll bar. ??
