• Hi,

There are, for now, 5 users that can’t login in one of my websites. Every time they try, it shows this message but I can’t reproduce de error in any case.

I’ve tried different browsers, different networks, same registration steps, updated all the plugins and disabled some, but I always can login without the error, and they don’t. I even changed one of the users password and logged in perfectly.

One of the admins updated wordpress to 4.4.1 and that was when all of this started.

I don’t have a clue of what could be.

  • Hi,

This sounds like a possible conflict caused by your theme or another plugin. To check if it is, can you test with all other plugins deactivated and while running the default WordPress theme?

I had this problem today on a new site. Checking the box under Settings>Memberships to anyone can register worked for me.

Had the same problem again. Under developer console, saw an error 406. My host InMotion (and others) issue a 406 error if the site has mod_security enabled. InMotion has a manager in cPanel to turn it off for a given site.

After disabling mod_security, Login With Ajax worked fine.

Thanks for that, it may well help someone else.

I also received the error “An error has occured. Please try again.” when trying to log in using Chrome, yet Safari worked.

I followed caimin_nwl suggestion to disable plugins. Thank you!
“WP PHP Console” was the evildoer in my case. I have no idea why, except that WP PHP Console plugin runs in Chrome.

    Hope this helps somebody
