Advice on what I’ve done here. HELP! :)

  • So, I’m not very wordpress savy, and I wanted to have different areas on my site with different articles/blogs.

    So I installed WordPress on my main site https://www.mysite.com… Then I wanted a blog area with totally different articles and I installed it again at https://www.mysite.com/blog and even one more time on another area of my site. It all works and I have 3 different logins. I’m assuming this was not the smartest way to go about it and I am pretty sure that there are ways to install it once and have 1 login with different areas that I could publish to. The reason I’m worried now is because I have started a newsletter and the feed for zookoda only found my main page, not the other 2. Any suggestions? Could I remove the /blog install and transfer all those posts to my main install? Any advice would be appreciated… Thanks!

    I know you guys hate bumps, but there are so many posts that never get answered and this really is my only hope of solving this problem and it seems like this is just falling into the trench of unanswered postings.. heheh

    I have been looking at other posts and have seen that there is the ability to export and import posts, but I’m really not sure if that’s the way to go with this issue. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    In case anyone cares… I’ve exported my posts from the /blog install, and imported them into my main install. After that I put a code before the loop so they won’t show. I don’t use a sidebar at all on my site, so I have no idea how to make a new page on my website to show the 2nd category that I coded to be hidden on my main page. I’d like to be able to show all those new imported categories on a new page without a 2nd install. Is that possible without a sidebar or navigation other than linking to it from my main page? Thanks!

    Anyway, let me get this straight.

    You want to show your newly imported categories on a new page, but without any navigation “on” the page, just “to/from” the page? Is that correct?

    The only thing I can think of is, to create a Page redirect, that loops the end user out of the theme, which I assume has sidebars or something that you don’t like.

    For example, throw your categories on a page that you’ve designed on your server…. create a redirect link on your blog, and dish up the categories from the main menu, as opposed to the sidebar.
