A fatal error caused by the ZipRecipes plugin caused my site to go offline yesterday. Deactivating the plugin brought the site back up, but the plugin won’t work. I deleted it, and installed the new version you updated yesterday, but I can’t activate it.

    It says:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home1/jodik/public_html/singleservingchef.com/wp-content/plugins/zip-recipes/zip-recipes.php on line 34

Help! A recipe site is not much good without any recipes!

  • Hi,

Sorry about this. It’s happening because you’re on an old PHP version that’s not supported.
Tell HostGator (or whoever your host is) to upgrade you to PHP 5.3 or higher.

Thanks for your quick response! I was just on the phone with them (it is HostGator) and they didn’t mention that. I will call them again.

OK.. turned out to be a bit tricky, but it’s working now. Thanks!!

    You’re welcome!

Yeah, they probably might not know the cause. I was surprised that they run some sites on an unsupported version of PHP, though.

If you want to do it yourself, this link should help: https://support.hostgator.com/articles/cpanel/php-configuration-plugin

All good now! I think I’ll have a brownie to celebrate! Too bad I can’t push them through the interwebz to you.

Haha, a BoIP (brownie over IP) service is sorely missing ??

Did you have to do it yourself or did HG do it over the phone for you?

I’m receiving an error message saying website is under maintenance or not responding.
I see the green and white zip recipe in my visual editor but my page is blanc with no content showing when I go to view site.
    It is not yet public.

    Hi cpagan01,

Which host are you using? Are you on PHP 5.3+?

blue host and I just registered 1-2 weeks ago so must be newest version ( I’m assuming)

Try disabling Zip Recipes and other plugins. Did you install another plugin?

I had 2 other plugins that I disabled. I will try disabling zip recipe and re-enabling just that one

not working this is the error message

    ?The website is under maintenance.
?The website has a programming error.

If you’re getting that while Zip Recipes is disabled, it’s not a Zip Recipes issue, it might be your theme.

this is the first recipe plugin I downloaded so I never had the zip list.
I’m completely new to this so figuring it out as I go.
    appreciate your help

my plan is to have a recipe index page that I can create a link for each recipe.
I’m assuming I Need to create each recipe as a zip recipe page then activate the link on my recipe index pge

disabled it shows this on my page

    [amd-zlrecipe-recipe:1]

now other content is visible but not the the recipe box

not visible in text editor either just the [amd-zlrecipe-recipe:1]

I’m previewing in the customizer is this OK?

Actually this might be an issue. Send me an email: hello at zip recipes dot net
