I was advised to reinstall wordpress after something got so messed up I couldn’t access any of the functions. I’ve followed the “Famous 5 minute install” and changed the wp-config file to access the original database. I tried going to https://www.allinfoaboutreading.com/wp-admin/install.php, but I get this error message:

    Already Installed
You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

I think I’m trying NOT to do that, because i’ve got over 100 pages in the database and would like to avoid having to start completely from scratch reentering all that data! Can anyone help?

    Thanks
    Sandy

if you must start over and are really only worried about saving the posts:

make a copy of that database just in case.

    reinstall wordpress.

copy the old posts/comments (and any other tables linked to the pages) tables to the new database.

I’ve got a back up copy of the database housed on the webhost’s server, but I have no idea how to copy it into a new database.

    Thanks for helping!
