I have problem after update 3.1
-
And you mentioned that the “– Select content type –” dropdown is disabled?
Can you tell me what other plugins you are using on your site?
Sorry but use many plugins. Among these the best known: Yoast Seo
I think I have the same problem.
When I select something from the conditional logic drop down, nothing further happens so I can’t do any editing.

Was working fine before latest update. I have latest version of WP and themes. I also have a lot of plugins.
Tim.
Hello Joachim,
Same problem (as above and same screenshot).
On all Edit Sidebar pages there is only:
1. A place for the name
2. A “Conditional Logic, Display sidebar with” drop down
3. And the Options meta box
No mater what I choose for the Conditional Logic, Display sidebar with drop down, after I save the sidebar the drop down returns to the default “Select content type” and no other elements appear on the page.
I’m in hell now because I use this on all sites and all client sites are affected.
Content Aware Sidebars worked with all the other plugins on the sites until this update.
I am using the most recent Theme.co X-Theme on all sites where this happens–and I’m not going to be able to uninstall this theme–it’s too good; I got all my clients to go with new site designs and migrated them away from several of the top theme frameworks.
Thank you for a fast answer to this.
Chris
Joachim,
Can I get a copy of the previous version install zip file.
I need to get my client’s sites working again.
Thank you,
Chris
When you have clicked on “– Select Content Type –” the first time, the UI should look like this: https://imgur.com/3gi60ei
When you are done with the conditions for a group, you should press the “Save Changes” button as seen to the right in the picture. If clicking on “– Select Content Type –” does not work, then it means that you have another plugin active that is causing a compatibility issue. In that case I would need you to do a few steps to find out what plugin it is, the first step being what browser you use?
Yes that indeed looks like a compatibility issue with another plugin. What browser do you use?
If you already know how, please open up the console in your browser, press F5 on the page with problems and let me know what it says in the console. While I can never recommend degrading a plugin, you can always find the earlier versions here:
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/content-aware-sidebars/developers/The problem is this

When I choose from the drop down you can not do anything elseI have found the problem.
This is the plugin that gives problems
Advanced Custom Fields: Font AwesomeI have tried implementing some precautions as it seems that more plugins are loading the select2 script when not needed.
Content Aware Sidebars only loads scripts on relevant administration pages. You can get the changes here: https://github.com/intoxstudio/wp-content-aware-engine
Click “Download ZIP” and paste it into /wp-content/plugins/content-aware-sidebars/lib
Remember to remove the “-master” suffix from the folder.Let me know if this solves your problem.
Hey Joachim
Really appreciate your help with this. I’ve uploaded the folder and changed the name as described. Is there anything else to do to activate it as I haven’t noticed any difference?
I’m using Chrome browser, but have also tried IE – same issues. I’m not using the plugin mentioned by someone else above. Older version worked beautifully!
Here’s a 30s screencast of what’s happening (or not happening!) if it helps: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mgf1iw0bo95zejd/sidebars.mp4?dl=0
I can always go back to previous version (thanks for the link) if it’s not fixable easily.
Tim.
I have contacted the developer of that plugin as my fix did not help much.
When you are on the sidebar editor page, can you open up the Console (F12 in Chrome) hit refresh (F5) and tell me what it says?
And thank you for the video, very describing. Can I ask you what software you used to capture it?
Sure – it’s Snagit (part of Camtasia suite). Great software.
Here’s the error log screencast: https://www.dropbox.com/s/od07zemj5zmn2lt/sidebars2.mp4?dl=0
Hope that makes more sense to you than it does to me!
Tim.
Thanks!
Can you point your cursor over “select2.js” and “wp_auth_check.js” and tell me what it says? There should be a context pop up with the absolute path to the files, and this way I can see what plugins are causing the problem.
Also try downloading this package again: https://github.com/intoxstudio/wp-content-aware-engine and let me know if it helps (it should at least remove one of the 2 red lines in the console)
Hey Joachim
Updated to the latest version, but didn’t notice any difference.
Here’s what it shows on hover: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6nevghwnjjdiqv4/sidebars3.mp4?dl=0

Hello Joachim
Any updates on this? I might have to use an alternate plugin if it’s going to be a long process to rectify (which I understand).
Please let me know,
Tim.
