Do shortcode in child theme (slider)

Hi everybody! I am new here, just downloaded WordPress and willing to learn about it as much as I can.

I′m running Genesis Framework. My child theme is Equilibre (https://clarothemes.com/support/theme-documentation/equilibre-theme/)

I am trying to add a slider (Responsive Zoom In/Out Slider by Lambert) to the featured widget area of the homepage but don’t know how to perform. Should I copy the <?php echo do_shortcode(“[lbg_zoominoutslider settings_id=’2′]”);?> somewhere in the functions.php/homepage.php files and then paste [lbg_zoominoutslider settings_id=’2′] inside an html text widget added to the featured area???
