How to rotate content from multiple blogs on sub-domains on the top level?

    I have a site that, like about.com, has sub-domains that deal with unique subjects. When I originally set-up my site years ago I installed wordpress in each sub-domain. For the main page of the domain I had another installation and a static page linking to all of the sub-domains. I now would like for the main page to rotate the content form the sub-domains. The only way that I could think to achieve this would be for the whole site to be under one installation. In order to maintain my sub-domains, however, I would think that I would have to install WordPress MU and that seems like overkill, at this point. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

    What does “rotate the content from the sub-domains” mean? I understand what you’ve got in the subdomains, but I don’t understand what you want in the root.

    I want the root to collect the posts from the sub-domains and to act as a hub for it all.

    Just use the feeds from the various blogs. You don’t need to install WP in the root to do that, nor do you need to switch to WPMU.

    Google for Magpie RSS. It’s a PHP class for grabbing and parsing RSS feeds. It will cache them for an hour, so your root continues to load quickly. Click on my name for an example (the “Recent Blog Posts” box).
