Users can’t use PrefPass if they change their email addresses…

    This is a great plugin… except for the fact that users can’t change their email addresses without losing the PrefPass authorization. They have to start using a password to login. Also, users can’t pick their own passwords at that point…

    From the user profile, where the password fields have been replaced by a PrefPass note:

    A note on changing your email

    “Do you currently log in without a password? If so, we just wanted to let you know that if you change your email address, you’ll also need to start using a password. Just log out and then click on the ‘Lost your password?’ link after you change your email!”

    Is there any way to fix this? It’s an exciting concept… but this plugin isn’t going to be widely adopted until this is fixed.

    Thanks for the note, Chiliberto. It’s true, right now if you want to change your email address in WordPress, you have to stop using PrefPass for that site. The password being autogenerated, however, is just due to the fact that you revert to the normal WordPress behavior.

    PrefPass needs some global identifier to know who you are across sites; right now that identifier is email address. We’re planning on allowing users to have multiple email addresses in the future, which would solve this problem. Do you have any thoughts as to how you’d like to see this handled within the plugin? We’d love to hear your ideas or additional feedback.
