I’m migrating a site to a new host.

When testing Post By Email I didn’t want to notify subscribers of my test posts.

    So I included

    [publicize off]

    I had also included
    [status draft] and
    [delay +2 days]
The latter two instructions were honoured, so the post wasn’t published.
However, when I edited the draft, the Publicize checkboxes were checked for my two channels (Facebook and Twitter), so presumably the publicize off instruction had been ignored.

The combination of shortcodes you’re using won’t really work well together.

[publicize off] works when you are publishing a post. Since you’ve set it to a draft, it will be best to adjust the Publicize settings later, when you’re publishing the post.

Thank you for the explanation and thank you for a useful plugin.

    I also tried this combination

    [category test]
    [delay +2 days]
    [publicize off]

and the publicize settings are still checked when I look at the scheduled post.

However, you are correct, [publicize off] does take effect if the post is set to publish immediately.

It would have saved me some trouble if the documentation at https://jetpack.me/support/post-by-email/ had made this clear.

    Thanks for the feedback!

It seems that Publicize settings should respect the shortcode, even though the post isn’t published right away. We’ll work on getting this fixed.

I’ll post again here when I have some news!
