    Hi from Toulouse !

Very strange thing here: I started using WP/LR yesterday.

On my first trial, I published a handful of images from LR into WP. As I have NextGen installed, they showed up as a Nextgen gallery. I was surprised by this “autonomy”, but no problem.

I then noticed that the image title were set to the file name. So I entered the Title metadata in LR, publish : Beautiful.

Playing around with things, I deleted the NextGen galleries and the images. I then published again, but this time, the Title doesn’t get into Nextgen.

I see it displayed in the Media library, but the titles in Nextgen (both admin- and front-side are set to the filename. And re-publishing does’nt change things. I can manually change the title in Nextgen, but not via LR. Not anymore, I should add.

Any idea where this comes from? Thanks!

I had a look into the database. It seems that wp_lrsync_meta.tag_name is not copied into wp_ngg_pictures.alttext anymore.

If it has ever been, that is. But from observation, this is what I believe is happening.

This is killing me. I start to believe that I have dreamt this yesterday.

Nextgen is showing Alttext as a caption, and in the LR WP/LR plugin, I am copying the photos metadata Title into the Alttext field.

Could this be a restriction from the trial version of the WP/LR plugin ?

    Hello Ditto,

Sorry, that will be a quick answer for two reasons: I am on holidays for a few days and I have an amazing amount of support emails to take care >< The extension for WP/LR Sync for NextGEN is open-source, anybody can make one or improve the one I made, I did it as a base to show people how it works and it’s easy to improve it. Myself, I am not an user of NextGEN and it will take me time to do it.

The latest version of the extension for NextGEN is here:
    https://github.com/jordymeow/wplr-nextgen
If you feel like it, please fork it, modify it, submit your changes, I will always keep it updated on the WordPress repo as well.

What I remember I did last is that I used all the internal functions of NextGEN so it should be fine.

I really need to run now but I just wanted to give you some kind of answer before that ??

    Thanks Jordy !

I am not sure what is wrong, but I can definitely say that this is not a bug in your software. I suspect a glitch in the NextGen plugin plus some “unexpected creativity” (read stupidness) in front of the screen.

I’ll dump NextGen for the moment, and will give pure NextCellence a try. If it does what I need, I’ll have a look at a wplr-nextcellence plugin.

Thanks again, enjoy your holidays and be in touch soon for my purchase of the LR plugin.

Avec un bonjour de Toulouse !

Oops, I am not sure such a plugin as wplr-nextcellence actually exists ??

And hello from Nara, Japan ??
