The Sharing Buttons’s count calculation differs for each Social Media Service. Most count the number of times your post’s URL has been shared. For Facebook, the count number includes:

    – the number of likes of your post’s URL
    – the number of shares of your URL (includes copy/pasting a link back to Facebook)
    – the number of likes and comments on stories on Facebook about your URL

    Hope that helps!

    Hello Lisa,

thanks for your response. In my case, my interest is about facebook’s counter.

    – the number of likes of your post’s URL.
How can this be if my post has no like button?

    – the number of shares of your URL (includes copy/pasting a link back to Facebook)
    Ok, I get this one.

    – the number of likes and comments on stories on Facebook about your URL
This means, if someone shares my URL in facebook and other person comments it, is it?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

How can this be if my post has no like button?

Although your post doesn’t have a Like button, if someone shares a link to your post on Facebook, other Facebook users will be able to Like that post on Facebook.

This means, if someone shares my URL in facebook and other person comments it, is it?

    Exactly!

You can run some tests and see the breakdown of shares, Likes, and comments thanks to Facebook’s API. Here is an example with Google’s Home Page:

You can of course change the URL to your own.
