We don’t recommend any specifically, but there are some plugins that block spam registrations available on www.ads-software.com:

I recommend checking the descriptions and reviews to see which will work best for your situation.

The amount of spammers (my opinion) has been ridiculous lately at my website.

Someone was able to register and set up a buddypress group to advertise some online payday loan crap.

I deleted the group and put a page at that same url informing any unsupecting visitors that the page was a spam attempt and to please notify the referring website to have the incoming link to my website removed.

Majority are coming from yandex. But it doesn’t show up in the logs (premium) that the site was spamvertised.

I have also set wordfence to immediately block ips that visit that url. Although I have seen the live traffic show views from the same ip after which.

What bothers me the most is seeing this:

    domain.com/?s=&group_id=&save=Create%20Group%20and%20Continue
    and right after seeing
    domain.com/?s=&save=Next%20Step

This seems to be a common practice. And does not show up as a 404/non-exsistant but rather displays search results.
