Show Excerpts in category page/homepage

Hi! i’m using Sixteen theme and while it looks nice, it doesn’t show the excerpts of the posts in the category pages or the homepage. It only shows the thumbnail of the “featured image” of each post.

I’m quite new to this and trying to learn some basic coding. Any help will be welcome.
