remove the "Nothing Found" part on home page

    I have spent two days trying to solve this problem. I want the blog off by front page, but want to be able to add a news page. I have read dozens of possible solutions in the forum, but the issue has not been resolved. Yet, the issue has been closed.
    I have seen this on several problems. Why do you close a conversation when the issue is NOT RESOLVED. This solution was offered a year ago. Is it correct and safe? I am new to site building and really need help.
