  • Yep, just uploaded it and got the same. What a bunch of garbage. As you said, time to learn to do it manually.

    And i never got the e-mail with the required info anyway (not even in my spam folder).Glad i saved the previous version of this plugin, as this one didn’t change anything at ALL except from forcing you to register.

    It was a bit of disappointment to see the updated version and to be tricked to it.

    Try this one:
    https://www.transycan.net/blogtest/2007/10/30/custom-query-string-reloaded-for-wordpress-23-with-tag-support/
    no registration, no sign-up, just the good old-fashioned download.
    Enjoy!

    There is a simple hack
    1) activate the plugin
    2) log in to your database
    3) search ‘wp_options’ table for ‘dppp_activate’
    4) Change ‘option_value’to 2

    Send https://www.maxblogpress.com/ a bit of hate mail.

    I sent some hate mail his way. What a jerk. Fortunately, I have a copy of v1.6 that I was able to put back on the 3 websites I take care of.

    @funvill thank you! i made the mistake of registering a long while ago for another one of his plugins and i never could stop getting spammed with their “news letter”.

    Custom Query String Reloaded (moshu’s link) worked just fine for me (WP 2.5.1 install), so I’d recommend that instead of this plugin.

    Thanks Moshu, that is good stuff! The hard sale is a dealbreaker for dpp.

    I changed dpppOptionsPg function to the following :

    function dpppOptionsPg() {
    		load_plugin_textdomain('DiffPostsPerPage');
    		$this->dppp_request = $_REQUEST['dppp'];

    		$form_1 = 'dppp_reg_form_1';
    		$form_2 = 'dppp_reg_form_2';
    		if ( intval($this->dppp_activate) == 0 ) { // Activate
    			$this->dppp_activate = 2;
    			update_option('dppp_activate', $this->dppp_activate);
    			$msg = 'Thank you for registering the plugin. It has been activated';
    		}
    	}

    Hi all, what a sad string of posts.
    I’m assuming the above posters even though its over several months, by now have all disappeared.
    A pity really to see people so cynical about a good plugin developer.
    So you have to register and get a few emails, big deal, any idea how much work goes into these plugins.Personally, every plugin Ive had from maxblogpress has been excellent.And the latest is no exception, so if you want to see what you missed you can check it out.

    The only word I hear on this forum is free, free, free.
    mike LOL.

    Maybe but most people don’t use their blogs for “money making” opportunities, such as yours.

    The only word I hear on this forum is free, free, free.

    What I hear is Spam, Spam, Spam…

    Thanks for the tip, funvill, exactly what I did, got enough spam already and sure don’t want more from some “money making blog” plugin developer with perhaps a hidden agenda. People who usually post plugins on this site expect absolutely nothing in return, except for kudos.

    And since when !!

    My last words, Mike (I’m sure that quite a few people will agree), there are excellent plugin authors who contribute their work for the simple pleasure of coding something useful for other users while there are others who don’t and want something in return.

    I don’t want another “newsletter” from someone standing on his soapbox, preaching the virtues of money making opportunities which most blog users don’t care about.

    According to your comments, you don’t seem to be happy with what other users (and a moderator) made on this thread and you also claim “The only word I hear on this forum is free, free, free.”, tell me, how much did you have to shell out for WP?

    Unfortunately, people reading this thread will either “patch” this plugin or try Moshu’s solution, most people don’t like having their email addresses end-up in some spammer’s database.

    Different strokes for different folks…

    Good luck,
    Gene

    The final word on the matter.

    I shelled out (not my choice of words)Sweet fanny all.
    My comments have nothing to do with not being happy with users or moderators views, Each can have their own. But in my small opinion,
    raygene, you make your comments sound as though you speak for the majority of wordpress users. Not me !!

    Unfortunately, people reading this thread will either “patch” this plugin or try Moshu’s solution, most people don’t like having their email addresses end-up in some spammer’s database.

    As for users suggesting hate mail, or hacking sombebodys code to simply avoid registering. Its not acceptable.
    Send the developer a dollar and sleep at night.
    End of story.
    mike.

    What a load of rubbish you talk michin4.
    I use plenty of his plugins never paid for one, he doesn’t spam, you need to register for them yes, which I think is more than reasonable for the work that goes into them. Never had any problems with them, unlike a long list I could mention.
    And how may I ask are his descriptions misleading.
    You forgot to quote any.
    finally the end of this thread.
    Mike
